So many individuals believe “pfft, pushups are easy”. I know how to do a pushup.” Most everyone is pretty confident that they already know the right way to do things like squats, thrusts, lunges, running, etc. The simple fact is that there are plenty of very common exercises that people don’t do correctly. If you aren’t doing your workout correctly, you won’t lose any fat and won’t see the results you’d like to see. Nobody wants to find out that the reason they haven’t found success yet is because they did everything wrong–it’s really discouraging. Here are several very common exercises mistakes people make in addition to how you can keep from making them yourself.
Squats are fantastic exercises to do in order to make your glutes and legs firmer. Are you performing them the correct way? The greatest error people make with squats is thinking that their knees will be doing all of the work. If you direct the squat in your knees, you’re just grinding your joints together and not working the very muscles you want to firm up: your glutes and hamstrings. Instead, press your hips in the opposite direction when you are bending your knees. This can help you squat down low enough that you work your muscles while preventing the grinding of your joints.
If you’ve watched the episode of Friends where Nobody’s Ready, you already know what a lunge is (Joey does one when wearing all of Chandler’s clothes). Lunges seem to be simple. You basically step forward whilst bending your knee in addition to lowering your body. It may seem like it’s easy enough, right? The simple fact is that most people don’t keep their calves straight and they also end up pushing their knees forwards over their feet. You have to keep your calf straight so that your calf and your thigh form a ninety degree angle at the knee. To perform this, let your own back knee lower all the way to the floor while you focus on getting your front leg’s form right.
Push ups are pretty much one of the most taken for granted physical exercises in the book. When most people endeavor to do them, they let their hips sink some. Or they could put their hands too far apart (because some people think it makes the push up easier to do). They don’t lower themselves enough. The simple fact is that a push up really should work the body. Not executing the exercise correctly only puts strain on your arms, elbows and shoulders. Yoga’s “plank” pose could be the best way to start a push up. When you experience the burn in all of the muscles, lower yourself to the floor. As you raise and lower your body, keep the body in a straight line. If you allow any section of your body curve, the training won’t work as well.
People take the vast majority of common work out moves for granted. This means that you aren’t executing them correctly and that shows that your workout isn’t as effective as you’d like it to be. To truly see the final results you crave you need to make sure that you complete all of your exercises correctly.
