I’m going to apply a few schools but the ones I really want to get into are Phillips Exeter Academy and/or Deerfield. These are two of the best boarding schools (9th through 12th grade) in the US, accepting less than 20% of their applicants. Do you think I would have a chance at either one of these schools?
Basics:
I’ll be applying for 10th grade
I’ll need financial aid
I’m a white American girl
I’m in 10th grade now so I’ll be repeating it (I heard that improves chances a lot)
Academics:
Throughout middle school I had all A’s except for two or three high B’s sixth grade year
Last year I had two high B’s first semester in honors science and math.
This year I have all A’s.
I take the hardest classes my school has to offer
I’ve taken Spanish for two years
I’ve been on the honors roll since sixth grade
Extracurricular activities
I play tennis competitively
I play soccer, golf, swim and ski for fun
I’m write for the school newspaper
I do a lot of acting, auditioning for plays and taking acting classes.
I’ve been in girl scouts for ten years and have done (I swear I’m not exaggerating) hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of community service.
I’ve earned my bronze, silver, and (almost) gold award, three huge community service projects.
I play the piano
I’m going to join history club
I babysit
I’ve written a few novels on my computer. Nothings published but all of them over 50,000 words. Writing is usually what I do in my free time.
I haven’t yet taken the SSAT…
I’m positive that my teachers would all write good letters of recommendation for me. All my teachers love me.
I also haven’t yet had an interview but I think that will go well too. I’m really good with adults.
