I can’t afford representation, legal aid, which offers free legal representation to people with modest means, didn’t take my case because I wasn’t desperate enough and now I am DESPERATE! I work full-time, I go to school, and all I can afford is one bedroom in someone else’s home. My ex lives in a 3200 square foot home, drives a Jaguar and plays tennis at the club every day. He pays me very little in child support, and he’s in the process of changing his payment to even less. I can’t leave the city I live in and I can’t afford to pay rent here! My son is too old to have to be sharing a bedroom with his mother. Is there anyone out there who can help me?
In order to go to the courthouse, I would have to be in line by 5 AM or even earlier, otherwise I wouldn’t get to speak to one of the legal aids they provide. I’ve been down that road and I spent the whole day waiting at the courthouse and never did get to speak to anyone. Motsly, they just tell me to get a lawyer. I have a five year-old, I can’t leave him at 4 AM to get to the courthouse early enough. Looking up links on the Internet is not going to help me. I can and have done that myself.
